Chapter 12: Ming Ren Style Arts

Cultivation laws detailed how to cultivate the next step before immortality.  Writing a cultivation law required experience and knowledge as one mistake could cause serious Qi deviation and harm the body. Spirit beasts often passed cultivation laws through their bloodline.

Newly created cultivation laws contained many flaws, unlike older laws with thousands of iterations and years of experimentation. In the Bright Scripture, one theory stated a higher being gifted humanity with its first cultivation law, another said it was a gift from an ancient spirit beast.

Ming Ren could write several Body Tempering cultivation laws. Yet it was only a gateway realm—the first step to immortality, where one could only temper the body. The current One Breath Luminescence already reached the pinnacle of the realm. Without the power of principles, no other law could surpass it. So he switched to arts.

Martial or mystic arts were born through repetition and slow improvement, fusing with true elements and principles. Rare energies and spiritual energy transformed their activation, increasing power and effects.

Few could create greater arts, all either experienced or talented. Ming Ren was both, and more options would become available as his cultivation soared and he delved deeper into the myriad of mysteries. The youth also had another reason to create and improve arts: the unusual Divine Light Dragon Body relied on knowledge and experience.

Only by creating arts and experiencing everything under the Heavens he unlocked the true power behind his physique. Formations, mind techniques, the way of pills, forging, and more. He wondered how far the bright senior progressed, did he reach the ultimate form of the physique? If he didn’t, how much more powerful would it be?

Aside from the Bright Clan Arts, Ming Ren knew those of the White and Cloud clans but avoided practicing those. He promised not to divulge them, but they never forbade him from practicing. Ming Ren didn’t want to, because he respected his friends, and those arts weren’t anything special. He could create better arts with ease or use an art as the foundation and improve it until it became unrecognizable.

All similar arts had a common origin. Ming Ren decided to wait until the Spirit Sea Realm to improve the arts of the Bright Clan as they possessed an innate connection to the True Element Of Light, and he hoped to sense it. Improving the art without the element resulted in a different version.

Ming Ren smiled to himself. By entering the Bright Scripture, because of his curiosity, he became an amazing art creator!

With a flick of his wrist, the sword went back into the space ring. In a fight, using a weapon might be better than bare fists, but at the Body Tempering Realm, the most important step was to temper the body. Therefore, fist and leg techniques were the most effective.

He took an attack instance and struck forward in what seemed to be a simple fist yet carrying insurmountable experience. The fist had no beat, no disturbance, and no killing intent. This attack embodied Ming Ren’s favorite style: plain, direct, and low-key. The opposite of the flashy style the bright arts contained.

However, his body was still unaccustomed to it. He repeated the movement over and over. Ming Ren held the arm in front of the body, with the palm down, and fingers straight. He tightened the entire fist, keeping a straight line with the forearm, becoming a unit together with the fingers, and punched forward once more. His internal energy circulated to the arm at maximum speed, reinforcing the point of strike. It caused an increased burst of power with seemingly no momentum behind the fist.

Somehow the fist looked far, then already there, almost as if it carried the power of space.

Ming Ren smiled with satisfaction. A heaven tier fist technique, almost surpassing the limits of the Body Tempering Realm. High Qi might, high burst speed, and low spirit consumption. It produced might and speed of the seventh layer at the small accomplishment stage, and the quick burst lowered spirit consumption. It could be called supreme among all fist techniques of the Body Tempering Realm without an innate element.

“Good! I will call it Ming Ren Fist Style–Clear Sky Fist!”

If the Bright Fist was gaudy, this fist was as clear as the sky!

Ming Ren took an offensive stance again and struck forward with the palm. The movement itself wasn’t fast, but it carried exceptional weight. It felt like the sky would collapse with the hit. Internal energy circulated to the palm as if his entire might concentrated at that point. He struck forward, and it even shook the ground. It didn’t aim to strike the surface but to transfer the impact inside the enemy using Qi, an internal damaging palm. The power surpassed the fist, but it was a technique without deceit, direct and deadly. It reached perfection again and another supreme technique appeared. High Qi might, middle-grade speed, and medium spirit consumption.

“Palm Style–Collapsing Sky!”

After thinking for a while, Ming Ren stepped lightly on the ground and seemed to disappear. He wanted a burst speed technique like the Bright Step but without the innate element and reached his expectations after correcting many mistakes.

“Movement Art–Flash Step!”

He needed another movement technique that focused on sprinting. It took some time because of the constrained space, but after many tries, the resulting speed pleased him. With no wasted movements, it allowed the user to lower consumption and fatigue by only using spiritual energy the instant his feet hit the ground.

“Movement Art–Sky Steps!”

Ming Ren kicked high with extreme speed and a lot of weight behind. He practiced it over and over, mixing spiritual energy until finding the perfect point to reinforce. It carried great speed with good destructive power.

“Leg Technique–Flash Kick!”

With a flick of the wrist, the unranked peak sword appeared once again. He gripped it and moved up and down with clear and precise movements. Soon the body moved as if he danced. The Bright Sword art already covered common strikes, so Ming Ren wanted to do something different, fusing sword mastery and dance. He weaved side to side, high and low, cutting and slashing until he became comfortable.

Ming Ren slashed in several circular motions as he stepped around dancing, a beautiful sight. With spiritual energy evenly distributed inside the body, he reached the limits of the heaven tier.

“Sword Art–Dance Of The Clear Sword!”

The entire ground around Ming Ren had several clear cuts, dust barely seen. Ming Ren’s swordsmanship reached an incredible realm, limited by his cultivation base. With this, even only at the peak of the fifth layer of the Body Tempering Realm, Ming Ren could fight against many Spirit Sea Realm cultivators. He sat relieved and felt creating arts was a lot of fun and less time consuming than he thought!

How many cultivators would kill him or spurt blood knowing his thoughts?

Brother, we spent so much time practicing those techniques, you only spent a few days on them!

A few days to create multiple top-tier Body Tempering Realm techniques? Even with so much knowledge, isn’t your talent a bit too heaven-defying?

Brother, you’re too much!

…Wait, a few days?

Ming Ren’s stomach howled. He ate nothing since waking up at the Cloud Clan. He had a cultivator’s body, but still hadn’t entered the true path, and even spent a lot of energy practicing those arts. Several days without a meal, how could he be fine?

‘Dammit, you fool, are you even human?! Knowledge is NOT food!’

Ming Ren couldn’t help but scold himself. Curiosity made him stay that long inside the Bright Scripture. Won’t he ever learn?

He got up and left the cave after verifying with spiritual sense no one was near. It was time to test his battle prowess and hunt.
